About LSR

Lincoln Self Reliance, Inc. (LSR) was established because of particular needs in the community and a desire to develop more opportunities and improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities residing in Lincoln County. LSR provides quality services and gives dignity and respect to persons with special needs.

 

LSR is a private not-for-profit organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Not-for-profit status was granted on August 7, 2000.  LSR joined the Regional Services Providers of Wyoming in January 2006.

 

In August 2007, LSR opened their first 24-hour residential habilitation home in Afton.  The home provides a family living structure for five individuals.   Each person suppported has their own private bedroom. 

 

In the Summer of 2008 LSR started a paper shredding service for area businesses.  LSR typically employs more than 8 persons served in the vocational departments at Afton and Diamondville.   

 

In March 2009, LSR opened two additional residential habilitation homes.  The new homes are located in Kemmerer and Thayne.

 

In the Spring of 2010, LSR was able to build a high tunnel greenhouse at the Afton office with grant funds provided through Wyoming USDA.  The project received a lot of community support as evidenced by the large turnout of community members that helped to erect the greenhouse.  LSR anticipates the persons served being able to grow produce for personal consumption and selling at the local farmers markets in future years. 

 

In the Fall of 2010,  LSR started a recycling service in the Kemmerer/Diamondville area and employs 2 persons served to collect products for recycling from residents in these communities. 

 

In the Spring of 2013, LSR opened a thrift store at 1038 South Washington, Afton location.  The Thrift Store celebrated 10 years in 2023.  

 

In April of 2014, LSR made a major expansion with the purchase of Bridges Habilitation Services in Evanston, Wyoming.  LSR purchased all of Bridges physical assets and retained all of the support staff.  The purchase included three Community Living homes, a large office, a training building, and a large day programing facility that is divided into five service rooms. 

 

In August 2014, LSR purchased the home of Betty Chadwick in Kemmerer, Wyoming.  Betty Chadwick was a Res Hab service provider and retired after serving her local community for over twenty years.  The home is being used as a wheelchair accessible group home by LSR.      

 

During the Fall/Winter of 2021, LSR completed a major remodel of the Morse Lee home in Evanston.  A new kitchen was installed, new ADA shower/bathroom installed, new windows, new flooring, and a stair lift installed. 

 

In June 2022, LSR purchased a three bedroom, two bathroom townhome at 48 Aspen Grove East, Evanston, WY.  The home is being used for Community Living Services. 

 

In the Fall of 2022 LSR completed a remodel of the Kemmerer Community Living home.  The kitchen and main bathroom were complete refinished with a new walk in shower, new appliances, cabinets, countertops, and vinyl flooring.  

 

In September 2023, LSR expanded the paved parking lot at our main office location in Afton.  LSR also purchased two 12' x 20' storage sheds to use for displaying merchandise at the Afton LSR Thrift Store. 

 

LSR operates with a Governance Board from various backgrounds and communities in Lincoln & Uinta Counties.
