Lincoln Self Reliance has received a three-year CARF accreditation for Community Services: Community Integration, Housing, and Supported Living.

Lincoln Self Reliance History

Lincoln Self Reliance, Inc. (LSR) was established because of particular needs in the community and a desire to develop more opportunities and improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities residing in Lincoln County. LSR provides quality services and gives dignity and respect to persons with special needs.

LSR is a private not-for-profit organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Not-for-profit status was granted on August 7, 2000.

LSR joined the Regional Services Providers of Wyoming in January 2006.  The association is now known as the Wyoming Community Service Providers.

In August 2007, LSR opened their first 24-hour residential habilitation home in Afton.  The home provides a family living structure for five individuals.   Each person supported has their own private bedroom.

In the Summer of 2008 LSR started a paper shredding service for area businesses.  LSR employs several individuals with disabilities to shred documents in the Afton and Evanston areas.  Individuals receive compensation at no less then the federal minimum wage which is currently at $7.25 hour.

In March 2009, LSR opened two additional residential habilitation homes.  The new homes are located in Kemmerer and Thayne.

In the Spring of 2010, LSR was able to build a high tunnel greenhouse at the Afton office with grant funds provided through Wyoming USDA.  The project received a lot of community support as evidenced by the large turnout of community members that helped to erect the greenhouse.  LSR anticipates the persons served being able to grow produce for personal consumption and selling at the local farmers markets in future years.

In the Fall of 2010,  LSR started a recycling service in the Kemmerer/Diamondville area and employs 2 persons served to collect products for recycling from residents in these communities.

In the Spring of 2013, LSR opened a thrift store at 1038 South Washington, Afton location.

In April of 2014, LSR made a major expansion with the purchase of Bridges Habilitation Services in Evanston, Wyoming.  LSR purchased all of Bridges physical assets and retained all of the support staff.  The purchase included three residential homes, a large office, a training building, and a large day programing facility that is divided into five service rooms.

In August 2014, LSR purchased the home of Betty Chadwick in Kemmerer, Wyoming.  Betty Chadwick was a Res Hab service provider and retired after serving her local community for over twenty years.  The home is being used as a wheelchair accessible group home by LSR.

LSR operates with a Governance Board from various backgrounds and communities in Lincoln & Uinta Counties.
